Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy for animals helps to restore and maintain mobility, function and performance.
Our physiotherapy assessments involve:
– Reviewing your pet’s medical history, medications and life at home
– Observe your pet’s conformation & posture, asses muscle mass and symmetry and body behaviour when performing tasks
– Assess gait and the body in motion
– Assess the body’s reaction to palpation
After your initial assessment, a treatment plan will be developed according to your pet’s needs and the goals you want to achieve. These plans are developed to improve the function and wellbeing of your pet.
Underwater Treadmill
Underwater treadmill is a controlled form of hydrotherapy designed to improve mobility, strength, endurance and functional movement while reducing stress on joints.
Our underwater treadmill sessions involve:
- Setting water height and treadmill speed to suit your pet’s size, ability and stage of recovery
Observing posture, limb placement and muscle engagement while moving in water
Assessing gait quality, symmetry and coordination in a low-impact environment
Monitoring comfort, fatigue and response to exercise throughout the session
Following your initial session, an individualised hydrotherapy plan will be developed based on your pet’s needs and progress. These plans aim to build strength, improve movement quality and support long-term function and wellbeing, all while being kind to joints and soft tissues.
Myofunctional Therapy (Massage)
Myofunctional therapy, or massage, is a hollistic and theraputic treatment that involves specific massage of soft tissues and stretching techniques. Massage therapy is one of th emost ancient forms of hollistic therapy and is highly regarded for its healing effects.
Massage can be effective for:
- Injury or post surgical recovery
- Improving muscle and joint stiffness or mobility
- Muscoskeletal conditions such as arthritis
- Maintaining a happy and healthy pet!
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a pain-free, non-invasive treatment used to support healing, reduce inflammation and relieve pain in a wide range of conditions.
Laser therapy works by delivering infrared light to the body’s tissues, stimulating cellular function and increasing blood flow. This enhances the body’s natural healing processes, helping to reduce pain, inflammation and recovery time.
Following assessment, laser therapy may be incorporated into your pet’s individual treatment plan to support healing and improve overall comfort and function.
Our SpectraVet laser unit includes both Class 3B and Class 4 laser capabilities.
Cycloidial Vibration Therapy (CVT)
Cycloidal Vibration Therapy (CVT) is a non-painful, non-invasive treatment that uses low-frequency, non-percussive vibrations to stimulate the body’s tissues and support healing, comfort and overall wellbeing.
At ARC, CVT is delivered using the Accell Animal Pro Therapy Mat.
The gentle cycloidal vibrations help stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, supporting the body’s natural healing processes. CVT may be used to improve pain levels, reduce inflammation, support muscle maintenance, enhance mobility and promote relaxation in pets with a range of conditions.
CVT is often used in conjunction with other therapies we offer, including physiotherapy and laser therapy.
Exercise Programs
Exercise programs are designed to improve strength, mobility, coordination and functional movement while supporting safe and effective rehabilitation.
At ARC, exercise programs are prescribed based on a thorough assessment of your pet’s condition, movement patterns, ability level and rehabilitation goals. Programs may be delivered onsite under professional supervision and continued at home with tailored guidance provided to pet owners.
These programs may be used to improve muscle strength and endurance, joint stability, balance and movement confidence. Exercise programs also support recovery following injury or surgery, assist in the management of chronic or orthopaedic conditions and help maintain function and mobility in senior pets.
Each exercise program is regularly reviewed and progressed as your pet improves, ensuring exercises remain appropriate, effective and aligned with your pet’s needs and goals.
